First impression Samsung Galaxy Y Duos, it has galaxy series unique design which is simple and elegant. But it has larger dimension than Samsung Galaxy Y, on front side it has proximity sensor, earpieces, 3.14 inches touchscreen and three physical buttons for home menu (hold to display recent app). Samsung Galaxy Y Duos body is surround with metal frame, rear side made by solid plastic chrome made this device convenience to hold.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos screen quality similar with Galaxy Y, looks good and bright but makes tired eyes if looking for a long time. For OS Y Duos using Android gingerbread v2.3.6 with TouchWiz interface.
Homescreen page which is can personilzed with various widget, folder, shortcut and change wallpaper. For tray notification bar you’ll can wipe screen form up to bottom and otherwise. It has some shortcut such as Wi-Fi activated, Bluetooth, GPS, Sound Vibration, Auto Rotation and also SIM choices.
On menu, it arrange in 3×4 formats with black transparency background which is can personalized. For text input we have three default condition DioPen Chinese IME, Samsung Keypad and Swipe. It also has setting menu for every input choice.

You can synchronies contact from many account such as Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and others. It has 4 tabs, contact tab which is display all contact list, group tab for categorized contact, history for see recent call, and activities to display your social network activity.

To make a call just slide to right to start it and slide to left to send message. For make call just do SIM setting, but these SIM both able to receive phonecall from other when it used as data service. Samsung Galaxy Y Duos completed with ChatOn which is Samsung communication service and Social hub which is integrate email, profiles, social network and instant messaging in an inbox.

SMS display like chat box makes it looks fresh and dynamic. Menu display also simple it brought you direct to inbox, for sending MMS you’ll only need to press paperclip icon to input various multimedia content.

For email, you can use push email facility which is smooth and realtime to notification new email. Instant messaging (IM) Gtalk also support. Virtual keypad size big enough (4×6 mm) with far enough separator between keypad it makes your typing experience convenience and minimize typo.

In camera section, Samsung Galaxy Y Duos already upgraded from Galaxy Y which is turn 2MP (1600×1200 pixel) resolution into 3.15 MP (248×1536 pixel) and also various standard setting such as scene mode, brightness, timer, resolution, white balance, effects, metering, image quality, guidelines, review, GPS, and reset, but it doesn’t add auto focus and flash features.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos support with smile shoot, panorama and for scene mode setting it has sport, night, landscape, dawn and sunset mode. For indoor photo result it has sharp result even has some noise in it. For outdoor, display color bright enough and has good details.

Used photo zoom with three different ways, pinch to zoom, tap screen twice or used zoom button on top-right.
You can play videos with MP4 format and WMV for resolution under 720p. video display were simple and has Video Edit (Trim Video) with scissor icon to editing your saved video.

It MP3 player support by 5.1 sound system which is give surround effect, but this features only can activated if using headset. Beside that it has music equalizer, for audio output it sound loud and clear when volume on maximize position.
FM Radio display also similar with Galaxy Y, still depend on headset as antenna and it has 4 shortcuts for save your favorite radio station.

For data transfer between devices, Samsung Galaxy Y Duos rely on Bluetooth v3.0, meanwhile for transferring data into PC, it provide microUSB v.2.0. it also has WiFi 802.11b/g/n connection ability and WiFi Tethering to share with other device.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has default browser which is able to open 4 pages in the same time (multi tabs). Has stable and fast internet experience even to open websites with video content as Youtube. It’s already support with flash, when paying video you can rotate the screen into landscape. But if you try to play video from browser it will played in other player not in that site.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos test result using Antutu Benchmark has 1730 score, from it we can conclude that Galaxy Y duos performance on low level, loose from Sony Ericsson X10i and Samsung Galaxy S.

Dual SIM ability, Android v2.3.6 Gingerbread OS and stable internet performance makes Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has his own attraction. But Samsung must aware with LG dual SIM product which is has similar ability and performance.
